Individual psychotherapy can be defined as an intentional interpersonal relationship wherein a trained therapist employs theory and techniques to aid a client or patient in problems of living. Each trained therapist adheres to a chosen theoretical orientation, providing them with theory and a framework to conceptualize a treatment plan. Individuals seek therapy for a variety of reasons including coping with loss, depression, anxiety, obesity, panic disorder, social anxiety, dealing with life challenges post traumatic brain injury (TBI), and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder etc. The treatment occurs in one on one sessions, usually once a week. The environment is built on a foundation of trust, confidentiality, and empathy. Through therapy, the clinician and the client actively explore challenging memories, identify aspects of our lives that we want to improve, and form better relationships with others. We identify values, and set goals to ensure that you are living according to those values.
